The Balanced Mama Project?
I’m Katie, I run classes from my home studio in Pukekohe and in other locations using Mat, Barre various props and body weight resistance exercises!
I currently teach Pilates, Barre and Reformer, at my home studio, at Draper Academy of Dance and teach Reformer Pilates at Pasture Pilates where I also help to mentor their amazingly talented reformer instructors.
I’m also trained to teach TRX, Pelvic Floor safe movement, Fascia release movement and Yin Yoga - plus lots of types of Dance including Ballet, Tap, Freestyle and more!
I was a professional Dancer for years before finding a passion for Pilates in London via Heartcore (@heartcorelife) and Marie-Claire Prettyman @the_movement_specialist. A training in Xtend Barre was the catalyst for some of the most amazing upskilling, trainings and enabled me to meet some amazing humans.
After the birth of my two children via c section I realised what a massive gap in information on safe return to exercise post childbirth and accessibility to that information there was, so together with degree qualified nutritionist Emily Parks we created Balanced Mama Project - I also provide online filmed content for @mumsalltogether - a charity doing great work in this space.
I also film Barre content for the UK based @maricarmenfitness and her Fit mama app.
During the pandemic, close friends who were also International Instructor superstars Jane Strickland, Phoebe Jeurissen and I set up the Method NZ providing elite, world class instructor training and upskilling here in Aotearoa.
I love a new project, adore my clients and genuinely adore to teach empowering movement specific to the individual(s) in front of me.
I’ve probably missed a heap of info off here but one of my claim to fames is that you can spot me in a one direction music video!

Katie is a fully qualified International REPs registered Instructor in Mat and Reformer Pilates (CQF-UK level 3), Dance (ISTD, IDTA) Barre (Instructor and International Teacher Trainer) Yina Yoga (Yoga Alliance) and extensively trained in Fascia Movement (Merrithew) Pelvic Floor (NZ Continence Foundation), pregnancy and postpartum.
